 Mataranka attractions include Elsey Station Homestead Replica, Elsey National Park, Bitter Springs, Mataranka Thermal Pools, Stockyard Gallery, Korowan (Mataranka Falls), Site of the Elsey Memorial Cemetery, Stirling Mill WWII site, Botanic walks, Mataranka National Parks display, Boat ramp at 12 mile, Giant termite mound, Mataranka Museum with displays on the Overland Telegraph line, WWII displays and outside items from the bygone era.

There’s the Mataranka Markets, the Mataranka Never, Never Festival, Mataranka Rodeo, Mataranka Barra Bash and nearby the Daly Waters Rodeo, Barunga Festival, Walking with the Spirits at Beswick and the Katherine & District Show. All year round there’s fishing on the Roper River, swimming and snorkelling in the two springs, bushwalking, birdwatching, four wheel driving, boating and camping.

Beyond the Mataranka area there are the Cutta Cutta caves, Marksie’s Stockman’s Camp Tucker, Tom Curtin’s Katherine Outback Experience, Nitmiluk National Park, Top DIdj Aboriginal Culture Experience, Katherine Museum, Aboriginal art galleries and Katherine Hot Springs to name a few.
